Tietze Talks:
As we roll into 2026, Friends of Tietze Park is excited to present our very first year of Tietze Talks! What are Tietze Talks? Tietze Talks are Saturday morning opportunities to learn about our natural world, as well as the ecosystem found in our park. We plan to have four Talks each year, two in the spring and two in the fall. All Talks will be family friendly, with fun kid activities and treats! Please save the date for our first two talks this spring, which will both take place in the pollinator garden:
Saturday, April 11th, 10:00-11:00a - "What's Popping?"
Hello Tietze enthusiasts!
Just a reminder that our first Tietze Talk, “What’s Popping?,” is scheduled for this Saturday at the pollinator garden from 10:00-11:00. This will be a fun event to learn about our emerging pollinator plants, and kids will be able to participate in a seed project or make a nature mandala. We will be closely watching the weather, though, because the forecast does predict rain. In the event of a rain cancellation, we will move this talk to our already scheduled May 16th date, and move that talk, on bees, to the fall. Check back, late Friday, for updates.

What: First Tietze Talks
When: Saturday, April 11th, 10:00-11:00am
Where: South side of park near the pavilion
In the meantime, go check out the northwest section of the garden, to especially see our Gentle Hermione rose. I encourage you to step into that bed and smell the lovely fragrance of this rose. It’s amazing! Several bearded Iris varieties are also in bloom, and our Sandpaper Verbena is loaded with vibrant royal purple blossoms! 💜

Saturday, May 16th, 10:00-11:00a - "All the Buzz"
Join us to learn about the exciting world of bees! We'll cover various different types of bees, found in our North Texas area, and also enjoy a presentation by Jon Schulz, with Blackland Bees, featuring LIVE honeybees! We'll end this fun event with a hunt through the garden to see how many different types of bees you can spot. All you need is a camera phone to participate in this timed race, and kids make great spotters! The winner will receive a special prize.
RSVP is NOT required for any Tietze Talks, but if you do plan to attend, consider letting us know so that we have an accurate account for supplies. Just click here
