What We've Done
The Friends of Tietze Park Foundation (FOTPF) has been the leading advocate for the improvement, preservation and continued beautification of Tietze Park since 2002. During those years FOTPF has tirelessy worked with the city to represent the interests of all park users and push for lasting park improvements, along with making major contributions to lasting park amenities.
The Foundation has raised money to purchase and install features that are enjoyed by all, including:

The Foundation has raised money to purchase and install features that are enjoyed by all, including:
- A large portion of the cost of the Lindsay Brown Toddler Playground
- Shade structure with benches to view the playgrounds
- Flag pole with maintenance of flags and light
- Exercise equipment stations with "pet parking posts"
- Bike rack
- Tennis court benches and new net
- 4 pet waste bag dispensers and maintenance
- Playground Shade Structure
- Sand Volleyball Court
- Pollinator Garden and Monarch Waystation

Amanda SchulzPresident & DirectorAmanda, her husband Jon and their two children (Nate and Alice) have been Lower Greenville residents and Tietze Park lovers for over a decade! A native of Dallas, Amanda is also a former Park Board Appointee for District 14 and the current Treasurer for Friends of Santa Fe Trail. She is a licensed real estate broker and attorney and completed her Texas Master Gardener's certification in 2018. Jon and Amanda own Blackland Bees, a local North Texas apiculture business dedicated to honey bee rescue, education, conservation and pollination services.

Sam GillespieVice President & DirectorSam and his wife Lori live in Lakewood Heights. Sam has been active in the neighborhood for fifteen plus years, serving on the boards of Friends of Tietze Park and Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association, as well as the Finance Committee of Lakewood Country Club.

Lisa MarshallDirector & President EmeritusLisa Marshall was President of Friends of Tietze Park for over 10 years and continues to serve on its board. She was also a past president of the Wilshire Heights Neighborhood Association. Lisa enjoys spending time at Tietze Park with her dachshunds, attends weekly “Nose Work” classes with the younger dog, and volunteers for Dachshund Lovers of Texas Rescue.

Carrie YoungbergDirector & TreasurerCarrie, her husband Dave and their two daughters (Sarah and Abby) moved from NYC to Lakewood Heights in August of 2018. In NYC Carrie held a number of Finance and Administration roles for Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citi Bank, and Vontobel Asset Management, as well as running her own consulting firm for a number of years. During COVID Carrie worked closely with the Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association to plan Vibin' On Vanderbilt, Pop Ups in Tietze Park, and Easter Egg Hunts. When the opportunity came up to do more for the Park, Carrie seized the opportunity.

Michael WalkerSecretaryMichael Walker has been a Lakewood Heights resident for 17 years. He and his wife Stephanie have lived one block from Tietze Park since the birth of their second grade daughter Annie. For the Walker family, the park is the heartbeat of their neighborhood. It is the place where Annie took her first steps and learned to swim.
As a 14 year Special Education teacher with Dallas ISD, Mike lives by his mantra that living for the interest of others is a good investment into the community at large. He believes East Dallas is the best Dallas and that Tietze Park supports their neighborhood by creating a place where relationships can thrive. |
Matt HenryDirector & WebmasterMatt and his wife Laura have lived in the neighborhood since 2016. When word of building a sand volleyball court came around he joined FOTP and used his skills to amplify online fundraising and community involvement to support court construction. Matt enjoys walks around Tietze Park, Lakewood Heights, and White Rock Lake when he's not doing contract work as a software engineer.
